HBT swam to another Medium sized team title at the 2010 SE Long Course Championships, winning by only 4 points over SWAT. Impressively, we were 8th overall only 20 points from 7th place!

Some numbers from SE Champs!

1st - Medium Team Division

2- Zone Team Members: Peyton Clutts and Nicolas Young

5- New Team Relay Records

6- Event winners (4 individual and 2 relays)

8th- Team Finish Overall out of 72 LSC teams

10- New Team Individual Records

13- New Long Course Sectional qualifying times (and numerous sc cuts)

23- # of swimmers scoring for HBT. This from 26 eligible.

123- Personal best times achieved.

2010 Speedo Sectional to be held July 15-18 @ the University of Georgia

Congrats to the 6 HBT swimmers that swam in Athens this week. Of the 11 swims we had, 8 were best times! Way to go! Natalie, Claire and Kreable established new long course sectional cuts!

Attending were Shelby Hall, Ali Smith, Natalie Swindle, Kreable Young, Dru Selden and Claire Williamson.

† In Matthew 25:35 it says, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink . . . I needed clothes and you clothed me . . .” A faithful servant said, “Lord, when did I see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? . . . When did you need clothes and I clothe you? . . . “God said, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”

 

During these tough economic times, there are many families in our community that need help. As a team, we would like to show our love and support by helping out the Green Valley Baptist Church Food Bank which supplies food, clothes, and furniture to the Birmingham area. At the upcoming Senior County Meet of Champions, July 31st and August 1st, we will be collecting the following items:

 

Most Needed Foods

• Meats: Canned meat (Spam, ham, meat spread, beef stew, chicken)

• Dairy: Evaporated milk, canned cheese, powdered milk, shelf stable milk, puddings, custards

• Breads & Cereals: Baking mix, muffin mix, dry cereal, oatmeal, grits, rice, pasta noodles, cornmeal, sugar, flour.

• Fruits and Vegetables: Canned fruit (citrus sections, oranges, pineapples, applesauce, apricots), canned juices (tomato, orange, pineapple, grape), canned vegetables, soups, dried fruits (raisins, apricots, prunes)

• Miscellaneous: Macaroni and Cheese, spaghetti sauces, boxed juice, peanut butter, canned nuts, jams and jellies. 

Non-food items and household goods

• Paper towels, plates, napkins, cups, plastic utensils

• Bar Soap, Dishwashing Soap

• Toilet Paper

• Laundry Detergent

• Any paper, cleaning, or hygiene items

Please bring your donations to the concession stand, located in the gymnasium at the Hoover Recreation Center.

Great finish to the regular season by HBT swimmers! 27 new SE cuts were achieved and many, many PB's were established.

Emily Lin (17) waited until the last meet to add 5 new cuts! Others with new cuts are: J Alfano (12), Syd Biswal (9), F Clutts (15), L Crabtree (9), A Parsons (15), D Selden (17), A Smith (13), M Steele (10), S Steele (12), H Whitehurst (12), T Whitehurst (12) and N Young (11).

In addition to the above swimmers, these swimmers had superb meets: Caitlin Bullard (11), Richard Chen (13), Mikey Correro (16), Myles Duke (16), Ross Garrett (13), Myles Johnson (11) and James and Jessica Prestel.
