HBT's first hosted Long Course meet at the Crossplex went well. The swimmers did very well considering this was the first LC meet of the season.

HBT swimmers swam to 41 new SE Championship LC standards, 2 new Senior Sectional cut and 2 team records.

 

Hitting the jackpot on new SE cuts were: Syd Biswal (11)- 7 cuts; Brooks Garrett (14)- 4 cuts; Ross Garrett (15)- 3 cuts; Macy Steele (9)- 5 cuts; and Kylie VanLandingham (13)- 3 cuts. Others obtaining cuts included: John Alfano, Caitlin Bullard, Finley Clutts, Peyton Clutts, Kate Duke, Erin Finn, Erica Han, Jakob Icimsoy, Mary Newton, Caroline Rice, Hunter Whitehurst and Abby Williamson.

 

Ross Garrett swam an impressive 100 free of 55.19 which was a senior sectional cut and team record. Rachel Cunningham (13) got her first senior sectional cut in the 100 breast. Jakob Icimsoy (12) shattered the 800 free team record with an outstanding 10.09!

Senior Sectionals were a huge success for our HBT swimmers. The team placed in 18th out of 80 teams entered.

8 of 12 swimmers had 100 % best times!

Many team individual and relay records were broken at the meet (long course), including individuals: Nicole Smith (12)- 100, 200 back; Sam Steele (14)- 100, 200, 400 free, 100, 200 fly; Ross Garrett (15)- 200, 400 free. Relay records were set in 800 free womens (M. Kamman, K. Duke, C. Williamson, N. Swindle), 400, 800 free men (S. Steele, R. Garrett, A. Parsons, F. Clutts).

The above relays scored as did the women's 400 free relay. Natalie Swindle placed 13th in the 200 fly and Katelyn Duke got a night swim by placing 17th in the 200 fly.

Olympic Trials for Leah!!!

Leah Thornton made her Olympic Trials cut this afternoon in the 100 back. She had missed it last summer by .01! She is competing at the Speedo Senior Sectional meet in Oxford, Ohio (Miami U). Leah also made her 200 back cut.

Awesome SE Champs

Congrats on a great TEAM effort by the HBT swimmers at the SE Championships. HBT finished 9th out of 53 teams and was 2nd in the medium team division!

 

The meet saw 4 different HBT swimmers win individual events, 14 of the 25 swimmers entered either scoring in an individual event or on a scoring relay, 11 new senior sectional cuts established, 10 team records broken in individual events and 6 new team relay records set.

 

Kylie VanLandingham started the weekend off on Thursday night with an amazing 1st place finish in the 11-12 girls 1000 free. Her time was well under the senior sectional time standard and turned out to be the 2nd best female performance by all swimmers in the meet (based on HYTEK point values). Kylie also set a new team record in the 100 breast (1.10.94) with a 5th place finish. She scored in the 200 free (4th); 200 IM (3rd); 500 free (2nd) and 8th in the 100 free.

 

Sam Steele (age 14) had another stellar meet performance. He scored in 6 of 7 events: winning 3 titles (100, 200 fly and 500 free). On the way he established 6 team records and was part of 2 new relay team records. Sam also collected 3 more Senior Sectional standards: 100, 500, 1000 free.

 

Nicole Smith (12) won both backstroke titles (50, 100) and scored in 6 of her 7 individual events. She too was part of 4 new team relay records for the 11-12 girls (Abby Williamson, Molly Steele, Kylie VanLandingham).

 

Natalie Swindle (17) pulled a major upset by winning the 200 fly title with a very close to Junior cut of 2.03.84. Natalie also scored in the 100 fly, 200 back and 500 free (new Sen Sect cut).

 

Jacob Icimsoy (11) scored in 4 events: 50, 200, 500 and 1000 free.

 

Establishing additional individual team records were: Finley Clutts (16)- 500 and 1000 free and Peyton Clutts (14)- 50 free and 200 back.

New team relay records were set by the 13-14 boys (T. Whitehurst, X. Verdad, S. Steele, P. Clutts) in the 400 free and medleys.

 

New Senior Sectional cuts: Maddie Kamman (16)- 200 free, 200 fly; Katelyn Duke 100, 200 free; Miles Duke (17)- 200 fly; Finley Clutts (16) 200 free.

 

Others sccoring were: Katelyn Duke (17)- 100 and 200 fly; Maddie Kamman (16)- 50, 100 free, 100, 200 fly; Molly Steele (12)- 100 free, 100 back, 100 fly and Claire Williamson (17)- 400 IM.
