Wins 6th Senior County in a a row
Day
one
sees LJBT in front of VSA by over 100 points! The highlight of
the day was the 1982 record broken by the LJBT 18-u girls 200
free relay of Williamson, Young, Bass and Selden with a 1:45:55.
That broke the old record by over 2 seconds. The 14-u girls
(Williamson, Lin, Young, Butler) 200 free relay also broke the
Senior County record with a blazing 1:46:80.
Jamie Mans (8) and Nicolas Young (9) led the morning crew by
winning 2 events each. Eric Besse (6) won the 25 yd free.
Leading the afternoon bunch was Cameron Bass (17) with 3 wins.
Others winning events were: Emily Lin (14)- 50 free; Kreable
Young (14)- 100 IM and Graham Carr (17)- 100 IM
Day
two- Jaime
Mans (8) wins 3 events in the morning session to get the day off to a
great start. She won the 25 back, 25 fly, 50 free and set a new
team record in the 50 back leading off a relay. Nicolas
Young (9) won the 50 fly. The 10-u boys 200 medley (Pickett,
Young, Clutts, Van Winkle) was victorious as well. Others with
good morning swims were: Emily Besse, Alison Smith, Peyton Clutts
and Holland Bayles.
The afternoon sessions saw LJBT swimmers win 9 individual races
and 3 relays. Kreable Young (14) won the 100 free and 50 fly. Her
100 free time tied the sc
record at 56.50! Emily Lin (14) won the 50
back: Cameron Bass (17) won the 100 free: fellow "old
lady" Virginia Selden won the 50 fly and 50 back; old man
Graham Carr (17) won the 100 free and 50 back; Finley Clutts (12)
won the 50 fly!
Relay winners were: 11-12 boys 200 medley (J. Young, N. Young,
Clutts, Hall); 13-14 girls 200 medley of (Lin, Young, Williamson,
Butler) and the 15-under 200 medley of (E. Lin, Bass, Selden,
Young) with a new sc record of 1:57:45
LJBT
won the meet by over 250 points over a strong VSA squad! This is
the 6th Senior County title in a row for our swimmers.

Champs- HBT 3rd in Medium Division
HBT
finished 3rd in the medium size division at the SE Championships,
only 7.5 points behind 2nd place Baylor. HBT overall was 11th in
the team rankings out of 53 teams.
Claire Williamson (12), Leah Thornton (16) and Kyle
Sigman (18) led the way for HBT with some strong
individual efforts.All three swimmers scored in their 7
individual events. Claire was crowned SE Champion
in the 100 fly and finished in the Top 6 of all her events. Kyle
established 4 new team records ( 200 IM, 100, 200 back and 200
free). Leah set a team record in the 200 IM and 1650 free.
Others scoring for HBT were Kreable Young (14) - 4 events; Rainey
White (15)- 3 events; Graham Carr (17)- 2 events; Cameron Bass
(16)- 3 events; Virginia Selden (18) - 3 events; Jacob Terry

The senior girls 400 free relay of (Selden, Thornton, White ,
Bass) also established a new team record.
Districts-
8-unders win Combined title and Boys title
HBT's
8-unders won the combined scoring (girls and boys) title with a
close victory over HSA.Congrats to the HBT 8-under boys for
finishing 1st at Districts! Nicolas Young led the way as the
8-under boys High Point Winner! He had help from his fellow
8-under boys:Cole Holmes, Daniel Kekes-Szabo, William Broeren and
Harlin Brown.
For the 8-under girls- Jamie Mans led the way with a 3rd place
overall finish in points. Other 8-u girls scoring were Susan
McElroy with help in relays from Holland Bayles and Nicole Smith.
Cauley Cunningham (12) got several new SE cuts. Finley Clutts made his first ever SE cut in the 50 fly!
Zone
Team
Congrats
to Angelica Chapman (12) and Rainey
White (14) for being selected to the 2006 SES Zone
Team. This is the second year in a row for both girls. Both are
seeded very well and can make an impact for the SES team.
GOOD

Wed:
Angelica finished 3rd in the 200 free and 2nd
in the 100 fly with a 1.06.59. Wow! Rainey finished 3rd in the
100 fly as well with a 1.04
Thurs- Angelica finished 3rd
in finals of the 50 back with a Top 16 time of 32.3
Friday- Angelica finished in
11th in the 100 back, just missing on finals. Rainey got a PB in
the 100 back
Sat- Angelica finished 1st
in the 50 fly with a greattttt time of
29.92! She was 4th in the 200 IM with a 2.32.79. Angelica led off
the 200 free relay with a 29.11 and Rainey led off a victorious
13-14 relay with a 50 free time of 27.20!
SES
Champs LC 2006
What
a SES Champsionship meet! Not the swimming, but the other stuff.
Due to a power outage, the finals for Saturday and Sunday were
canceled. The Saturday session was not completed until Sunday
morning! Chaotic at best. And with the hot humid conditions,
inside and out, swimming was not at it's best.
HBT manged to squeak out a Top 10 team finish, by getting 9th
place out of 39 teams. The women of HBT finished 4th overall!

Congrats to Angelica Chapman (12) for winning
the 11-12 girls high point award. She won 6-7 events, broke 4
team records and got two more Top 16 reportable times.

to our summer league swimmers for capturing a 5th straight JCSC

Sectionals
Swimming
in no doubt the fastest sectional in the country, our HBT
swimmers faired quite well against some of the fastest swimmers
in the world. The meet included at least 12 Olympians and many
NCAA finalists.
HBT swimmers broke 15 individual team records and 3 womens relay
records. Rainey White (14), Leah Thornotn (15) and Kyle Sigman
(18) all qualified at least once to come back at night to swim
finals.
Rainey established team records in the 50
free,100 fly and 200 free. Her fly time was a US
Open and summer Junior National cut. She is .81 away from a
Senior National cut ! Both the 50 free and 100 fly were
reportable Top 16 times.
Leah established new standards in the 100
back,100 fly, 200 IM and 400 IM. She was in the top
26 in both back events. Her 100 back was a summer Junior National
cut!
Kyle set 5 new team records and had 6-7 PB's. He
finaled in the 200 back by dropping 4 seconds from his previous
best. Team records he set were in the 800 free, 100
fly, 100, 200 back and 400 IM.
Angelica Chapman (the youngest swimmer in the
meet) at 12 set new team records in the 100 back and
100 fly. Her 100 fly was a reportable Top 16 time. Cameron
Bass (16) set the last team record in the 800
free.
The women's relays - 400 , 800 free (Bass, Selden, White,
Thornton) and the 400 medley (Chapman, Thornton,
Selden, White) set new team records. The 800
free was only .27 off of the summer Junior National cut.

final rankings for the USAS Top16 for 2004-5 season are posted.
HBT faired very well with Sarah Denninghoff and Chloe Sutton
posting numerous T16's while swimming for HBT.
Sarah was ranked in the following events: 100 free (9th), 200
free (4th), 1000 free (10th), 1650 free (16th), 50 back (3rd),
100 back (4th) and 200 back (8th).
Chloe was ranked: 100 free (11th), 200 free(1st), 500 free (1st),
1000 fre (1st), 1650 (1st), 200 back (6th), 200 IM (9th), 200 fly
(7th) and 400 IM (8th).

Wins Senior County 2005
Congrats
to the swimmers and parents for putting on a great Senior
County event. The swimmers swam to a 4th straight team
title with almost all swimmers scoring in either individual
events or relays. All the results can be found on the senior

Special
congrats to our 1st place High Point Winners: Gabriel Muir (10);
Angelica Chapman (11); Nathan Thomson (11); Julie Beattie (16)
and Jacob Terry (16).
Also,Julie Beattie set 3 new league records. Her and
teammate Jacob Terry both ended their summer league careers by
"Quading" out!

Great job by our swimmers
from "little ole" Hoover. We placed 6th out of 41 teams
entered in the meet. Of 20 HBT swimmers swimming in the meet, 17
scored in individual events. We were led by the HBT 13-14 girls
who finished 2nd in their age group scoring. These girls were
responsible for 9 of the new team records + 2 relays.
Leah Thornton was the High Point winner in the 13-14 age group.
She had a Top 16 time in the 100 fly, finaled in all 7 events and
became a member of the SE Zone Team. Teammate Rainey White won
the 50 free (Team record) and by doing so landed a spot on the SE
Zone Team as well. She finaled in all 7 of her events, too.
Rainey had a Top 16 time in the 100 fly wiped out by a
"bogus" disqaulification, too.
Siblings, Sarah (13) and Kurt (16) Denninghoff were responsible
for 7 new team records between them. Sarah finaled in 6 out of 7
events and established 4 new team records. Brother Kurt scored in
3 events and set 3 new team records.
Angelica Chapman (11) scored in all 7 of her events and was one
of only two 11 year olds to score in the 11-12 age group (next
year should be great). Angelica also made the SE Zone Team as the
only "11" year old!
Gabriel Muir (10) is the proud owner of 2 SE Titles. He won the
50 and 100 fly and established new team records in the 200 IM and
100 back while scoring in all 7 of his events.

Meet of
Champions 2004
HBT
swam to a very strong 3rd place finish at the MOC meet. This with
only 27 available healthy bodies! Our 11-12 and 13-14 girls led
the way with some very impressive swimming. Sarah Denninghoff,
Rainey White and Leah Thornton demolished the team record book
with some outstanding efforts. Sarah swam 3 reportable Top 16
times-led with a magnificant 100 back of 59.95! She also was the
high point runner-up winner! Her fellow age grouper Rainey White
had 2 reportable Top 16 swims (50,100 fly) and was part of a Top
16 200 free relay that included Chloe Sutton and Dru Selden.
Chloe Sutton turned in 3 Top 16 times as well (being sick, too).
Leah swam to the 13-14 girls high point award with personal bests
in all 9 races and won 4 events. Her 200 breast time was only .15
seconds off the junior national cut. She set 11 new team records
in individual events and was part of a couple of relay records.
Others having great meets were: Gabriel Muir- scored in all 9
events he swam; Cameron Bass won the 1650 and broke the team
record in the 500 free; Kyle Sigman scored in 8 events with 6
pb's. Nate Myers broke his own team record in the 200 breast.
Scoring in individual events were Julie Beattie, Catherine
Butler,Andrew Cartner, Sam Cartner, Angelica Chapman, Claire
Cunningham, Daniel Hughes, Kaleena Jackson, Jay McElroy, Dru
Selden and Virginia Selden.
Special congrats to Claire Williamson and Margaret Cartner for
going 9 for 9 with best times. Kaylene Beachum (9) got her first
SE cut in the 50 fly!
High
School Meet 2004
Great
job by all the HBT High School swimmers this past weekend. Just
about everybody had lifetime bests or season best swims. A
special nod to Chloe Sutton as she broke one of the oldest State
meet records in the 500 free. Chloe swam a 4:53 breaking the old
record established in 1978 by 2 seconds. She also won the 200
free in near record time. WAY TO GO CHLOE!
Kyle Sigman (200 free), Virginia Selden (100 fly, 500 free) and
Sarah Denninghoff (100 back) swam to Sectional times. Medaling
was Daniel Hughes in the 500 free getting a best time by almost 6
seconds. Others scoring in individual events were: Julie Beattie,
Cameron Bass, Rainey White, Catherine Reinagel, Catherine Butler,
Chris Beachum, Kurt Denninghoff and Tyler Campbell. Claire
Cunningham helped Spain Park score in two relays.

TOP
16
The
final tabulations for the Top 16 list for the lc 2004 season have
been made. Three HBT swimmers have made the list and one relay
team.
Although not swimming for HBT at the time, current team member
Chloe Sutton made the list in 7 events. She was ranked 1st in the
200, 400, 800 and 1500 free, 3rd- 100 free and 15th in the 200
back and 400 IM.
10 year olds Angelica Chapman and Nathan Thomson both made the
list in two events. Angelica was 12th in the 50 fly and 16th in
the 200 IM. Nathan was 10th in the 50 fly and 11th in the 50
free.
The 9-10 boys 200 medley relay of Andrew Cartner, Crawford
Burton, Gabriel Muir and Nathan Thomson finished 12th!

HBT is
JCSC SENIOR COUNTY CHAMPION
The
HBT swim team once again dominated the competition at the Senior
County meet. This was the 3rd year in a row that HBT has won the
county meet. With only 49 swimmers on the summer league roster,
42 competed in the meet and most scored either in individual
and/or relay events. HBT swimmers won 40 of the 82 events in the
meet!
Out of 16 new Senior County records broken, 11 came from HBT
swimmers/relays.
Of the 10 high point winners- 5 were from HBT: Angelica Chapman
(10), Nathan Thomson (10), Sarah Denninghoff (12), Catherine
Reinagel (14) and Julie Beattie (15). Many other HBT swimmers
were in the Top 8 of their age group.
Establishing
new team records were: Angelica Chapman (10)- 50 fly and 50 back;
Sara Denninghoff (12)- 50 back; and Julie Beattie (15)- 100 IM
and 50 fly.

Finishes in 6th at SE Champs

HBT had their
highest finish ever at the SE Short Course Championships
finishing 6th and only a few mistakes from 5th. The championship
went down to the last event, with Excel eeking out a 6 point
victory over Nashville!
The
team was led by the 10-under girls, who won the their age group!
Sara Denninghoff won two events, Dru Selden won one and both
10-under girls relays were victorious.
In addition, Top 16 times were turned in by Dru Selden (10)- 500
free and Cameron Bass (12)- 1000 free.
Many team records were broken at the meet. HBT swimmers broke 18
individual records and 6 relay records.

Congratulations to all the
HBT swimmers on their swimming performance at GPAC. It was a
great team effort. This despite not being at full strength due to
absence and illness of many swimmers! We had lots of swimmers
finishing in the Top 8 and the relays did really great!

Long Shot Meet
Our third "Long Shot
" meet is history. Although the meet was small, some strong
swimming occurred.
12 year olds Demi Lamb and Leah Thornton led the way. Each girl
achieved a Top 16 time (close in a couple of other events, too)
and combined, broke 7 team records. Fellow 12 year old, Cameron
Bass, also had a great meet, achieving Quad A times in the 1000
and 1650 free! (Cameron a distance swimmer?)
Others with great post Christmas training results were: Kyle
Sigman (14), Jacob Terry (13), Virginia Selden (13), Dru Selden
(10), Jessica Beattie (15) , Jill Allen (15) , Amanda Williams
(17) and Virginia Faulkner (13).
Significant improvements were made by: Alison Creighton (8),
Andrew Davis (8), Gabe Muir (7), Nathan Thomson (9), Kreable
Young (10), Stephanie Ramirez (13), Anna Bru (13), Daniel Hughes

HBT finishes 2nd at
Meet of Champions
The Hoover Blue Thunder
swim team finished 2nd this past weekend at the Meet of
Champions. This is the highest finish ever for HBT! The team
established new team records in 28 events and 4 Top 16 individual
reportable times were made and one Top 16 reportable relay time!
The Thunder team was led by the 9-10 girls who captured the age
group title. This was accented by Top 16 times from Rainey White
(50 free) and the 200 medley relay of (Sarah Denninghoff, Brie
Tandet, Rainey White and Dru Selden).
Also, Ian Dexter (12) came through with 3 Top 16 times (50,100
and 200 breast). Ian time trialed in the 200 breast and smashed
the SES record by 5 second with a time of 2.26!!! He also broke 8
team records during the weekend and was high point runnerup. Way
to go Ian!
Others performing very well were: Samantha Sawzak (18), who
finished a very close 3rd in individual high point honors; Leah
Thorton (11) made finals in all seven events, while breaking one
team record; Sarah Denninghoff (10) with 7 finals and 3 team
records; Rainey White (10)- finaled in all seven events, broke 4
team records; Daniel Hughes (14) with 6 personal bests; Erin
Little (13) with 6 personal best times and two team records (200
IM , 1000 free); Phillip Wood (16)- 6 best times and Demi Lamb
(12) with 5 best times and two team records (100 back, 500 free).
Others establishing new team records were Julie Beattie (13),
Catherine Reinagel (13) , Brie Tandet (10) and Michael Bottchen
(17). The 11-12 girls 200 medley relay team of Catherine Butler,
Demi Lamb, Cameron Bass and Leah Thornton also set a new team

Champ, members of a State Champion Team and many finalists.
Samantha Sawzak won the 100 back and was 2nd in the 50 free.

(7th-100 fly and 100 back), Virginia Faulkner (16th- 200 free) ,
Kammie Avant ( 16th- 500 free ) and Anna Bell Bru were all part
of the winning Mountain Brook women's team.
