Hoover Rec Center Rules and PoliciesConcerning Use of the Pool, Locker Rooms and Weight RoomThe HBT Swim Team has been given the privilege of using this fabulous, state-of-the-art swimming facility to practice in and to hold swim meets. It is a privilege to be able to swim at the Hoover Rec Center (HRC) and we ask that swimmers and their parents adhere to the following guidelines. Should the Rec Center staff receive complaints from the general membership about the behavior and conduct of our team, we could lose the privilege of swimming at the HRC. Rules1. All swimmers MUST come in the front door of the HRC and sign in by scanning their swim team membership card under one of the card readers at the front desk. NO ONE IS ALLOWED to come in the back door of the facility. 2. All swimmers MUST bring their pool and book bags out to the pool deck after changing into their suits. You may put your things into a locker in the locker room IF THEY WILL FIT. Nothing is to be left on the floors or on the benches in the locker room during swim practice. Other Rec Center members using the gym, track and weight room need to get in the locker rooms too -- and if there are 20-30 swim bags AND school backpacks in there no one will be able to move! PLEASE RESPECT THIS RULE. 3. LOCKER ROOM CONDUCT: When changing in the locker rooms, change as quickly as possible and bring your bags to the pool deck. You can do your socializing ON DECK. Please be mindful and respectful of the other members utilizing the locker rooms. In addition, clean up after yourselves before you leave -- i.e., shampoo in the showers, paper towels, makeup, etc. 4. No one under the age of 14 is allowed on the third floor of the Rec Center. If you are over the age of 14 AND are a full member of the HRC, you may go up to the third floor. 5. WEIGHT ROOM: The swim team IS NOT ALLOWED in the weight room. The only exception to this rule at the current time is as follows: You must be 16 years of age or older, you must be a Hoover Resident AND a full member of the Hoover Rec Center. We will be looking into the possibility of getting some of the advanced swimmers into the weight room for training. It will be strictly up to the Head COach to determine which swimmers are ready for weight training should the team be allowed to use the facility. 6. POOL EQUIPMENT: Swimmers that have pool equipment, i.e., fins, pull buoys, hand paddles, kick boards, are allowed to use the closet in the corner past the aquatics office. Keep in mind that this closet contains other equipment used by other groups that use the pool -- so it gets crowded. We ask that swimmers hang their pool bags on the wall hangers at the far end of the pool. 7. POOL EQUIPMENT ON DECK: At the end of practice, each swimmer is responsible for putting his/her equipment away. DO NOT LEAVE ANY EQUIPMENT ON DECK. If you see kick boards left out and YOU DIDN'T USE THEM, be big enough to pick them up and put them away anyway. Let's all be responsible so we don't lose our swim privileges. 8. LIFEGUARDS: HRC Lifeguards are in charge of the pool when they are on duty. We ask that swimmers and parents please abide by all of the pool rules and requests of the lifeguards. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.
